Alain Rodier
was born in 1962 in Saint Julien en Genevoix, France.
Having pursued a successful career
in film and fashion photography ( working for clients such as Vogue, Givenchy..),
Rodier came to feel restricted by his medium. Using his fashion images he
first explored the medium of large scale collages, gaining the attention of
patrons such as Regine and Joseph Ettedgui, who commissioned collages portraits.
Rodier then went on to study
silk-screen printing with the late Gordon McNaulty at "Works of Art".
This learning was used as a springboard to a new direction for Rodier. He
started applying silk-screen prints of his fashion photography to a canvas
painted with oils or acrylics.Rodier has worked in the UK, Australia and the
US, receiving commissions from the likes of Kevin Costner, William Shatner, the
late Frank Sinatra, and models such as Carla Bruni, Eva Herzigova..
Rodier is currently developing a new concept,
that of " Interactive Silk-screen Art", this new medium allows the
viewer to manipulate the image at the touch of a switch, giving each original
work infinite possibilities. The former curator of the musée de l'Orangerie
in Paris has been lobbying the French government for the acquisition of works
in this new art form |
